Welcome to Zen Acres

Natural Lavender Farm

Lavender…beautiful, fragrant, edible, and believed to help with everything from repelling bugs to having curative and cosmetic properties. The flowers represent purity, silence, grace and calmness. Its purple color is the color of royalty.

Our journey with Lavender started as a way to transition into retirement. The rolling hills on our Maryland farm just called out to be planted with rows of purple blooms. What we didn’t expect was how well they would thrive in our very the first year. But then COVID-19 struck and the world changed, so we looked to see how we could bring our farm and life experience into a holistic virtual world. Since then, much has happened on the personal and global stage. However, our focus is still to provide as many calming moments to help us all through the challenging times ahead.

Stay tuned as we work to reinvent Zen Acres. In the meantime, we will endeavor to post articles and information that will continue to bring the world of lavender into better focus. For now, thank you for taking the time to stop by our site. We appreciate your time and interest, and hope to see you again here soon!

Why Naturopathy

Why Lavender?

Ancient & Modern Science have studied its use on...

Anxiety & Stress

There is growing evidence suggesting that lavender oil may be an effective medicament in treatment of several neurological disorder, and it can act as a mood stabilizer, sedative, analgesic, and anticonvulsive as well as having neuroprotective properties.

Antiseptic & Insect Repellant

Lavender oil does double duty for insect bites on both human and animals. It acts as an insect repellent, and it can relieve itching and inflammation after a bite occurs. Lavender's antimicrobial and antifungal properties make it an excellent choice to combat infections.

Wrinkles & Skin Care

The lavender oil helps cleanse your skin and lessen redness and irritation.  To use lavender oil for wrinkles, use a few drops of the essential oil along with coconut oil.

Nausea & Headache

Gently inhaling lavender can relieve feelings of nausea or motion sickness. Massaging the oil into the temples, forehead, and neck (specifically behind your ears) can treat headaches.

Anti-Inflammatory

Painful inflammation can be treated with lavender oil. The oil’s pain-relieving and numbing effects help soothe the inflammation, while the beta-caryophyllene in the oil also acts as a natural anti-inflammatory.

Dementia & Alzheimer's

Lavender is thought to be calming and able to balance strong emotions. It has also been used to help with depression, anger, and irritability, and can help in some cases of insomnia.

Testimonials

“In the summer, I use lavender to fend off insects. In the fall and winter, I love burning the lavender fire-starters. I put the pinecone bundles on my Christmas tree as ornaments and pick them off when I start a fire. The house is filled with a calm and we all sleep through a warm winter's night”
